St. Luke is a joyful, inclusive and compassionate community on a spiritual journey seeking to do justice, make peace, act mercifully, and to walk humbly with God. Vision: We envision a world in which all are welcome at the table of God’s abundance, all creation flourishes in balance and wholeness, and all live in peace.
Core Values: We welcome all to the table. God loves all people as they were created and as they are becoming. We are enriched by diversity in our midst, seek to hear all voices, and invite all to participate fully. We are seekers. We support each person’s unique, lifelong search for meaning. We have more questions than answers and trust that God is present as we wrestle with them. We are connected. The world is our home and anything that happens to any part of creation happens to us all. We believe in change. We know that God’s transformative power can and does work through us and on us to change our world and our hearts. We speak out. We question freely, advocate for the voiceless, and boldly name the evils of systemic oppression and exploitation. We are activists. We are called to work for social justice, peace, and a sustainable relationship with the living Earth, even when doing so involves risk. We are disciples of the radical Jesus. Jesus models for us a life of extravagant love for all, active nonviolence, and solidarity with the poor, the hungry, and the outcast. We practice progressive Christianity. We firmly reject any Christian dogma that demeans or excludes, while reclaiming the overarching truths of love, justice, and shalom. We are responsible stewards. Mindful of God’s bountiful creation, we use our resources with both thrift and generosity, always trying to balance our internal and external priorities. We cherish our beloved community. We experience the Holy in our elders, women, men, youth, and children. Together we comfort, celebrate, and challenge one another. |
