A few years ago on a very dark night, I was sailing with two friends between Eleuthera and Great Abaco in the Northeast Providence Channel. We saw the lights of a sailboat approaching from eastward. We never saw that boat. However, we did raise it by radio. And, having identified ourselves, we asked who they were and if they had seen the Hole-in-the-Wall light. They responded that they were inbound from England to Nassau and that they had seen the light. They gave us a compass course to follow. Later we saw the light and, keeping it on our bow, we came to Hole-in-the-Wall at about 2:00 AM. Without the Light to guide us, finding our objective would have been like trying to find a needle in a haystack. A friend who suffered a great loss told me of feeling she was in a deep black hole with no way out. She reveals a feeling which comes to individuals more often than we might suspect. It was not because he had nothing else to say that Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.” It was because he can lead a person through the darkness and into the fullness of life. Rev.
