The St. Luke library is a marvelous resource for books, videos, and literature on contemporary issues of faith, peace, justice, the environment, and families.  The library manager, Julie Mall, places high emphasis on acquiring and maintaining a selection which is relevant and meaningful to the concerns of St. Luke members. The library is usually staffed immediately before and after Sunday worship.

There are over 3,500 books, videos, and audiotapes for adults, youth, and children. Generally, all adult materials are grouped into four main sections: reference, religion, global community, and individual. There is a Children’s Section and a Youth Section. All library materials are listed in the computer in the library within three databases (adult, youth, and child); and then by author, title, and category.

Books and videos for all ages are displayed on the library counter according to various themes throughout the year. The display bookcase houses new library additions and featured materials. This year the featured displayed materials are about Immigration, the Environment, and “green living.”

The “Library Corner” column, published in the Challenge and Bulletin, offers information about materials that relate to the liturgical seasons and calendar, educational events, and events happening at St. Luke. Book titles, new additions, and other resources also are included in the column.

Contributions of materials and funds from individuals, families, and focus groups continue to help expand the library collection.
