Book Discussion

Learn More About Immigration on November 11

Read The Line Becomes a River by Francisco Cantu and join the Racial and Ethnic Justice Focus Group for a lively discussion on Sunday, November 11 at 11:45 am.  If you don’t get a chance to read the book, come anyway and learn from the discussion.

For Cantú, son of a Mexican immigrant, the border is in his blood.  Driven to understand the hard realities of the landscape he loves, Cantú joins the Border Patrol where he learns to track other humans, haul in the dead and deliver to detention those they find alive.  Plagued by a growing awareness of his complicity in a dehumanizing enterprise, he abandons the Patrol for civilian life.  But when an immigrant friend travels to Mexico to visit his dying mother and does not return, Cantú discovers that the border has migrated with him.

Hennepin County Library has many copies available and the book is also available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
