Join us at Friday prayer protection for our Somali neighbors

St. Luke’s Social Justice Team and ISAIAH Invite You

Please see the message below from St. Luke partner ISAIAH. The suggested mosques to visit in our area are Irshad Islamic Center in Eden Prairie or Northwest Islamic Community Center in Plymouth, but the sign up form lists other local mosques as well.

ISAIAH Writes:

Our Somali neighbors are facing increased threats and feeling less safe in the aftermath of President Trump’s recent hateful, incendiary comments on social media. Sadly, this is far from the first time our communities have been targeted by our federal government. So, how do we respond?

Minnesotans stand together and love our neighbors. Right now, we have an important opportunity to do just that.

Mosques around the state are inviting neighbors to join them during Friday prayers from 12 to 2:30 p.m. on October 16, 23, and 30. By showing up, we can offer a warm welcome, demonstrate solidarity, and help our Somali neighbors feel supported and safe.

Invite a friend, bring a sign that reads “Minnesotans Stand Together” or something similar, and greet your neighbors as they arrive for prayer. Afterward, we’ll share sambusas and tea, get to know one another, and go early vote together—because voting is part of how we protect our neighbors.

Find a mosque near you, sign up to join us for one or multiple Fridays, and use the flyer below to spread the word. Once again, we stand together.
