BeFrienders

Simon and Garfunkel sang it:

When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water…

BeFrienders are trained to act as that bridge. We listen without judging and honor confidentiality. We listen without giving advice, so you can gain perspective to resolve your own problems, share your pain or sadness, or simply talk about anything you want. BeFrienders listen to people who may be experiencing issues such as:

  • Grieving the loss of a loved one,

  • Sadness that can go with aging,

  • Loneliness,

  • Major decisions,

  • Major life changes,

  • Illness,

  • Problems with a family member,

  • Or any other time you just want someone to listen without interrupting or advising.

If you'd like to meet with a BeFriender or need more information, you can call Janie Warner or ask any BeFriender if they are available to meet for coffee or in the privacy of the church. (Please reach out to the office if you need BeFrienders’ contact information.)
